In a massive step toward building the aviation hub of the future, a consortium of India’s engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has officially secured the Design-and-Build contract for the Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) Automated People Mover (APM) system.
Scheduled for completion by December 2031, this groundbreaking underground transit network is set to become the world's largest inter-terminal train system. It will feature a vast 50km footprint meticulously engineered to transfer millions of international passengers seamlessly across the mega-hub.
This project anchors the monumental $35 billion expansion designed to handle an unprecedented 260 million passengers annually by 2032.
